There are memories we have, not knowing what would come next.
Before things turned upside down. I remember there was order, comfortable dysfunction.

This series is based on a flood of childhood memories of being at a beach in Lakeside Michigan, at the end of Pier Street. Childhood freedom, the sand in your toes—not to relax as an adult might—but to feel that happy. The beach was always happy. The color my mother used in her paintings, the colors, the buildup. Happy. Pier Street captures the bright feeling through color. The vibrancy of youth, the connection to family and parents and siblings.

The moments in those places that you recall with fondness.
